What is hydroxyethyl methylcellulose? What is its usual viscosity?
Hydroxyethyl methyl cellulose (HEMC) uses highly pure cotton cellulose as raw material, which is specially etherified after alkali treatment, and does not contain any active ingredients such as animal organs and oils. White, off-white powder or granules, odorless, tasteless, hygroscopic, almost insoluble in hot water, acetone, ethanol and toluene. After swelling in cold water, it becomes a gelatinous solution, and the dissolution is not affected by the pH value. It is similar to methylcellulose, but with the addition of hydroxyethyl groups, it is more salt tolerant, more soluble in water and has a higher coagulation temperature.
Common viscosity specifications:
400 viscosity: 300-500 viscosity range
10000 viscosity: 9000-12000 viscosity range dissolved
