MHEC chemical-The role of hydroxyethyl methyl cellulose in dry mortar
Usually in all dry mortar products, hydroxyethyl methyl cellulose is required to be added without exception. Its main function is to improve the water retention capacity of the mortar, improve the fluidity and workability, improve the initial strength of the cement mortar, and avoid cracking, especially in the high water absorption base and high temperature construction.
On the premise of adding a certain amount of hydroxyethyl methyl cellulose to the disperse polymer powder, the effect of hydroxyethyl methyl cellulose on the flexural, compressive and tensile bond strength of cement mortar; tested by mercury intrusion method Pore structure, the effect of MHEC introduction on the porosity and pore size distribution of cement mortar was studied.
The results show that the tensile bond strength of the cement mortar added with cellulose ether is improved. After adding methyl cellulose ether, the flexural strength and compressive strength of cement mortar are greatly reduced. The greater the amount used, the lower its intensity. After the addition of hydroxyethyl methyl cellulose ether, with the continuous increase of the dosage, the flexural strength of the cement mortar appeared a turning point, first increased and then decreased, and the compressive strength gradually decreased. The amount used should be controlled at 0.1%-0.3%. After adding MHEC to the cement mortar, the pore distribution area will increase, the number of small pores will increase, the number of large pores will decrease, and the average pore size will decrease.
